DVD: Extraordinary Measures (PG)
Brendan Fraser and Keri Russell's two children have Pompe disease, a rare and fatal genetic disorder.
Only one man – Dr Robert Stonehill, a reclusive medical researcher – can potentially cure them. Cue Harrison Ford, wearing his habitual grouchy face; like some cad has had the temerity to trample on his azaleas. Extraordinary Measures, which is inspired by Geeta Anand's Pulitzer Prize winning The Cure, is a crushingly predictable by-the-numbers TV-movie, complete with a grating soundtrack – the aural equivalent of having a vuvuzela wedged in your earhole. Ford is on auto-pilot; Fraser forlorn. Dismal.
