Jigsaw: Killer continues his macabre tricks from beyond the grave
Released in 2004, the original instalment of Saw terrified cinema audiences with its diabolically simple plot and twist ending, which introduced the world to a deranged killer called Jigsaw aka John Kramer (Tobin Bell).
The spirit of the Machiavellian mastermind returns in the eighth bloodthirsty chapter of the franchise, which injects new life into familiar characters and poses tantalising new questions about years of torture and retribution.
A group of seemingly unconnected victims including Anna (Laura Vandervoort), Carly (Brittany Allen), Mitch (Mandela van Peebles) and Ryan (Paul Braunstein) is forced to play sadistic games of life or death. Survival usually relies on the demise of a rival competitor.
As the body count starts to rise, police detectives Halloran (Callum Keith Rennie) and Hunt (Cle Bennett) connect the deaths to Kramer, who supposedly died 10 years ago.
As the mystery deepens, authorities fear a new apprentice has taken up Jigsaw’s mantle.
