Sir Paul McCartney to turn It's A Wonderful Life into new musical
Sir Paul McCartney is writing his first musical - a stage adaptation of film classic It's A Wonderful Life.
The former Beatle will bring Frank Capra's much-loved 1946 festive fantasy drama to life along with film and theatre producer Bill Kenwright and Lee Hall, who wrote the films Billy Elliot and Rocketman.
The stage production will launch in late 2020.
Sir Paul (77) said yesterday: "It's A Wonderful Life is a universal story we can all relate to."
The drama tells the story of George Bailey, a man who has devoted his life to helping others and who is shown the value of his own life by a guardian angel to stop him killing himself.
