Watch: Banned Sodastream commercial parodies Game of Thrones

A commercial from Sodastream, parodying a famous scene from Game of Thrones, has been banned on the grounds of offensive language and unsubstantiated environmental claims.

The advert features Game of Thrones stars Hafthór Júlíus 'Thor' Björnsson who plays The Mountain and Hannah Waddingham, who played Septa Unella.

Parodying the HBO show's famous Walk of Shame scene, the commercial sees a man buying sparkling water from a supermarket before being  followed by a nun shouting 'Shame!'.

The man heads towards what seems to be the Game of Thrones set, where he is met by The Mountain who scolds him for "hurting Mother Earth" by carrying "shameful polluting plastic bottles".

The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) issued a cease and desist letter because of the claim.

Within the advert, The Mountain is also heard to shout: "'F*** plastic bottles".

The video was shown on SodaStream's Facebook feed as well as a pre-ad for a Pokemon Undertale video on YouTube.

The Advertising Standards Authority said that the ad was "unlikely to cause general offence" but ruled it was wrongly targetted on YouTube.

The watchdog also found that the brand had failed to target the ad responsibly on Facebook.
