Hugo Duncan: Great to be in concert again with star Nathan Carter

I am looking forward to linking up with Nathan Carter and his band for what will be a special Easter Monday concert in the Armagh City Hotel.

Since he embarked on the Ulster entertainment scene back in January 2010, Nathan has gone from strength to strength and is now regarded as a country superstar.

It could be said that his arrival on the scene was timely, as at that juncture it was not exactly thriving. But Nathan's vibrant approach and youthful appeal re-energised the country dancing circuit, in particular.

Within a short time, Nathan was rubbing shoulders with the top bands in the country and subsequently under the capable baton of John Farry he began to scale a new peak.

Not only is he popular in this country, but he has many fans in others such as Germany, the US, Spain, Portugal and Australia, as well, of course, as England and Scotland. I know that he is particularly looking forward to appearing in the Armagh City Hotel, where he has performed with huge success in the past.

For my part, I always enjoy going there as there is invariably a great atmosphere and the staff are particularly helpful.

Incidentally, I would wish Kieran McAnallen, such a familiar figure in the hotel, and his family well for the future. Time was when a country concert would not have been taking place on Easter Monday night, but this is just another way in which the entertainment business as we know it has changed.

I've no doubt that fans will be there to give Nathan a warm welcome and he'll certainly ensure that they have a great night. I'll try and provide a helping hand by getting the concert off to a good start.
