Miley Cyrus's racy Belfast Bangerz show leaves fans divided

By Amanda Ferguson

Crass or class? The Miley Cyrus juggernaut has rolled out of Belfast leaving opinion divided on her controversial Bangerz stage show.

The 21-year-old US pop star left the city after her gig at the Odyssey Arena on Monday before taking her raunchy performance to the O2 in Dublin last night.

Thousands of people got the chance to see what all the fuss was about – and while many were left distinctly unimpressed by the Belfast gig, a lot of fans absolutely loved the singer's latest efforts.

The two-hour concert was not for the faint-hearted, featuring a giant tongue slide, a simulated sex scene, references to her libido, liberal cursing and questions about how "slutty" the audience was.

Belfast Telegraph reviewer Andrew Johnston gave Miley just two stars out of a possible five for an attention-grabbing performance he said was "barely suitable for adults".

"Still just 21, she can't really top last night's performance without putting on a live sex show, and the music isn't strong enough to sustain a substantial career," he wrote.

"Indeed the best thing you can say about the erstwhile Hannah Montana's 'vocals' is that she certainly didn't seem to be miming."

After the show, Twitter was alive with posts from Miley fans, and not everyone was taken with the young singer.

Emma Steele said: "Soaked yesterday outside Odyssey. Got pushed inside it and Miley was too raunchy. I didn't like her."

Victoria Kal said: "Don't think Miley was impressed by the turnout for the standing section of the Odyssey. That's due to the 16+ age restriction!"

Reviewer Brian Coney said: "Two hours I will never get back. Awful beyond words."

However, Miley devotees had the time of their young lives. One fan said: "Miley Cyrus you rocked the Odyssey! Best concert ever." Another added: "Miley was outstanding."
