Ards Guitar Festival launches programme featuring Metallica and Lowden

The Ards International Guitar Festival will return to rock venues around Newtownards in April 2019.

The festival, organised by Ards and North Down Borough Council, will feature an eclectic mix of brilliant local talent and international artists, running from April 3 – 7.

Expect guitar-inspired gigs, guitar clinics with industry professionals and an exhibition, 'In Your Town' featuring Rory Gallagher memorabilia.

There will also be a screening of iconic Metallica documentary Some Kind of Monster and George Lowden in conversation with special guests.

Speaking to about the festival, Councillor Richard Smart, Mayor of Ards and North Down said: “I am so proud to see Ards International Guitar Festival going from strength to strength, with another jam-packed line up of gigs with something for every taste - traditional to contemporary.

"This year’s festival yet again puts Ards and North Down on the map as a mecca for music, culture and talent. A great atmosphere, great hospitality and a very warm Newtownards welcome are all part of the package for those enjoying this year’s fab line up.”
