Country legend Charley Pride bids us farewell (again)

Waterfront Hall, Belfast, Thursday, April 16, & Saturday, April 18, 8pm

By Damien Murray

As a regular visitor to Belfast throughout our dark days in the 1970s, the American Country legend's current tour is good news for local fans as his last concerts here in 2012 were to have been the aging singer's farewell appearance in Northern Ireland.

Since emerging on the world country music scene with All I Have To Offer You (Is Me) in 1969, Pride has scored more than three dozen country hits and has remained one of the Top 20 best-selling country artists of all-time. He has sold over 70 million albums (31 gold and four platinum) albums and, on RCA Records, is second in sales only to Elvis Presley. The Country Music Association voted him Entertainer of the Year in 1971 and his classics include Crystal Chandeliers, Is Anybody Goin' To San Antone and Kiss An Angel Good Morning.
