DJ collective The Beat Emporium get new Belfast city centre workspace to share and learn
Over a year ago four DJs got together and came up with the idea of a shared community and workspace for local DJs to network and build on their creative skills.
Now The Beat Emporium will be getting a new look with a brand new location in Belfast City Centre from April.
Managing Director’s DJ Hix (Cool FM) and Pete Kernoghan (Club DJ/producer), along with DJ friends Duke and John Boi set up this business with one main aim of ‘getting back to the heart of DJing’.
Pete Kernoghan said: “We live in a digital world now, where DJs sit at home and download their tracks, head to the club and that’s it, gone are the days where a DJ had to go to their local music shop to get a track and bump into another DJ.”
He added: “As a working DJ and producer I found it’s a better learning experience to network with others…it’s a two way street, so members can learn from me and I can learn from them.”
The Beat Emporium hold specialist workshops called ‘Learning Communities’, where big named local DJs or world class DJs will come in and hold seminars or a specialist workshop for members.
They also offer studio space, equipment to use and learn from, a feel good place to work, and years of experience.
DJ Cash Money, DJ Rafik and DJ Shiftee are all world champion DJs and have visited the Beat Emporium to hold classes and also play top local clubs while they are in Belfast.
Pete Kernoghan said: “If you are serious about DJing and taking your career to the next level, this is for you.”
If you are a DJ who is looking for a shared workspace/hub in the city centre, wanting to learn from other DJ’s and producers to develop your skills, career, and take your creativity to the next level, this is the place for you.
You need to be a member to take advantage of what’s on offer, membership for the year is £180.
All money from members goes straight back into the Beat Emporium to help fund the workspace, equipment, and new projects.
The Beat Emporium will have a brand new location on Donegall Street, Belfast from April.
