Hozier to headline at Belsonic

By Eoin Loughlin

An Irish singer-songwriter who teamed up with pop legend Annie Lennox at this year's Grammy Awards has been announced as the final act for the Belsonic line-up.

Multi-instrumentalist Hozier will return to Belfast to headline the Custom House Square event on August 24.

Hozier shot to fame following the release of his Grammy-nominated single Take Me To Church, which he performed with Lennox at the February awards. It hit the No1 spot in 12 countries.

Hozier sang the first few verses before Lennox joined him on stage to add her own dynamic vocals to the folk-rock hit.

Hozier said: "I'm thrilled to be returning to Belfast to play Belsonic this summer.

"It's a rare treat to get to preform so close to home. I'm very much looking forward to it.

Hozier will be supported by the Dublin folk-rock band Little Green Cars, who have just finished supporting Jake Bugg on his UK tour, and the soulful all-girl trio Wyvern Lingo.

Tickets for Hozier at Belsonic 2015 will go on sale at 9am on Friday from Ticketmaster outlets. Remaining tickets for the other Belsonic shows are on sale now.
