1D bring Sunshine to unwell kids

One Direction gave some seriously ill children a Christmas treat when they attended a charity event.

The band, who are ambassadors for the charity Rays Of Sunshine, were happy to grant the wishes of 36 sick children and teens from across the UK who had requested to meet them.

The group - Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson - serenaded heart disease patient Ellie-Leigh with an exclusive rendition of Happy Birthday to celebrate her 16th birthday, reported the Daily Mirror.

They also took snaps with the children, signed books, answered questions and gave hugs. And they left fans with a goody bag which included a signed T-shirt and two tickets to their 2015 tour, On The Road Again.

One Direction have been ambassadors for the charity since 2012, alongside fellow ambassadors Simon Cowell, Olly Murs, Pixie Lott and Leona Lewis. The charity, founded in 2003, grants wishes to children with serious and life-limiting illnesses.

After their visit, the band posted on Facebook: "The guys had an amazing day with Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity yesterday and met some truly amazing kids and families. Thank you all so much for coming down!"
