Aaron Carter enters rehab

Aaron Carter has checked into rehab to get help for “emotional and spiritual issues”.

The 23-year-old star is the younger brother of Back Street Boys singer Nick Carter. He has been working on re-launching his music career lately, and drew gasps when he debuted a bodybuilder-type physique last year.

Aaron’s manager Johnny Wright has confirmed he is in a treatment facility, believed to be in Southern California.

“Several months ago Aaron came to me to help him return to music and to restart his career. He has been in Orlando working on a new album and perfecting his live show and his physical body. Aaron, understanding the challenges and hard work it would take to get himself back to the top, requested to take some time before we started to heal some emotional and spiritual issues he was dealing with,” Johnny told E! Online. “Therefore he has chosen to enter a facility where he feels he will get the guidance and cleansing he needs that will help him on the music journey he's about to take. He asks that everyone keep him in their prayers and that they respect his privacy at this time.”

Although the exact nature of Aaron’s issues have not been released, E! Online has claimed he is dealing with addiction.

He is understood to have checked into a clinic earlier this month, and Nick has reportedly been supportive and visited him as much as possible.

Aaron has not let being in rehab hamper his contact with his fans and loved ones, and has been regularly updating his Twitter page. “I had a great day with my brother @NickCarter he always comes to bat for me when others believe someone else over me!” he wrote recently.

The star has been arrested for possessing marijuana in the past.
