Arrest warrant issued for Baker
An arrest warrant has been issued for Grammy Award-winning singer Anita Baker.
A judge in the US signed off on the warrant this week.
It was sought by the lawyer for a company that claimed the Sweet Love singer owes 15,000 US dollars (£9,000) for work done on her home in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
The star's lawyer, Jamal Hamood, said he plans to file a motion to cancel the warrant.
Hamood said Anita wasn't served with papers and didn't know she had been sued in 2011 by Ray A Smith Painting And Decorating. He said the singer is out of town and will remain so until the warrant issue is cleared up.
The company's lawyer, Daniel Gerow, told The Detroit News he doesn't want the singer to go to jail, but only wants to see his client get paid.
