Badu performs at Tupac concert

Erykah Badu joined with musicians including Roy Ayers and rapper Rick Ross for a US concert to mark the 40th birthday of the late rap star Tupac Shakur.

The acts performed at the Atlanta Symphony Hall to raise money for the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation to help students develop their skill in the creative arts.

Tupac was one of rap's best-selling artists when he was shot to death in 1996 while riding in a car in Las Vegas.

Comedian Mike Epps hosted the concert and presented a 10,000 dollar cheque to Shakur's mother, Afeni Shakur, for the foundation.

Grammy-winner Erykah sang Soldier, which was dedicated to Afeni, who sat a few rows away with a smile on her face.

"He came at a time when people weren't looking for a saviour, they were looking for someone who looked like them," Erykah said. "But saviours, sometimes are just doing the work, they are just doing their job."
