Bradley Walsh to cover Nat King Cole and Louis Armstrong on new album

The record is out in November.

The Chase host Bradley Walsh will cover an array of acclaimed musicians including Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald after being crowned the UK’s most successful debut artist of 2016.

The comedian and presenter’s first album of covers, Chasing Dreams, went gold and outsold records by former One Direction star Zayn Malik, fellow newcomer Jack Garratt as well as Mercury Prize-winning Skepta and singer-songwriter Tom Odell.

Walsh, 57, will release his second record, When You’re Smiling, on November 10 on Sony Music with his own versions of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Louis Armstrong tracks as well as songs from musicals including Cabaret, The King And I and Guys And Dolls.

It also includes a new song co-written with composer Steve Sidwell titled You Know Best, while Walsh’s son, Barney, plays piano on One For My Baby.

Walsh said: “I am very flattered that so many people loved Chasing Dreams.

“The amazing response that we received was a big surprise to us all and now we have to follow up that success with the second album.

“We have had a great time revisiting some of our favourite songs from stage and screen and I am very proud of what we’ve achieved.

“I can only hope that people enjoy listening to it as much as we did making it.”
