Brian Kennedy to headline 'A Very Special Evening for Haiti' charity concert in Dublin

Brian Kennedy will headline 'A Very Special Evening for Haiti'.

Hosted by Irish charity Haven, the gigs aim to raise much-needed funds for Haiti following the devastating effects of Hurricane Matthew.

It was the third major natural disaster to hit the Caribbean country since 2010 and the most powerful one to strike Haiti in over 50 years. It has left more than 1.4 million people in need of humanitarian aid.

The concert will take place on Saturday, December 3 in Whelan's, Dublin from 8pm.

All funds raised will support the charity’s recovery efforts in some of the most adversely affected communities of Haiti.

Actress, comedian, and producer Katherine Lynch will act as MC for the Whelan’s gig, where Brian will be joined by Eleanor McEvoy, Paul Harrington and more special guests.

Brian said: “Watching news footage of the destruction caused by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti had a strong impact on me.

"I was deeply moved and wanted to do something to help. I have teamed up with Haven to perform at previous fundraising concerts: the passion and dedication from their team to support the people of Haiti is very powerful.

"I am delighted to headline this gig, and I would urge people to come along to enjoy a great night of music whilst raising vital funds to support recovery in Haiti.”

Chairman and Founder of Haven, Leslie Buckley, said: “Hurricane Matthew has caused destruction across the island of Haiti, and funds are urgently needed to push emergency relief and support.  Our team has been working closely with communities to assess the damage and respond fully to their needs, and we are deeply committed to standing with the people of Haiti to ensure that recovery reaches everyone.

"Through this gig, we hope to celebrate the difference that we can all make by coming together in solidarity for the people of Haiti, who are facing enormous challenges at this time.  On behalf of the Haven team, I wish to sincerely thank Brian Kennedy, Katherine Lynch, Eleanor McEvoy, Paul Harrington and the many others who are joining us on this very special night”.

Tickets cost €20 and can be purchased through the Whelan’s website or box office.
