Cyndi Lauper to perform at Olivier Awards
Cyndi Lauper will take to the stage for a special performance at the Olivier Awards 40th anniversary ceremony.
The Grammy and Tony-winning artist will perform on her own and in a unique collaboration with an as-yet-unrevealed artist to celebrate seven nominations for Kinky Boots, for which Lauper wrote the lyrics.
Michael Feinstein, master of The Great American Songbook, has also been announced to perform in a special anniversary segment with a variety of past winners.
The cast of Lauper's musical Kinky Boots will strut their stuff at the Royal Opera House alongside fellow MasterCard Best New Musical nominees Bend It Like Beckham, In the Heights and Mrs Henderson Presents.
They will be joined by Best Musical Revival nominees Bugsy Malone, Guys and Dolls, Gypsy and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers - the first time all eight of the nominees have performed at the ceremony.
The star-studded night celebrating the best of London theatre will be hosted by two-time winner Michael Ball with Kit Harington, Glee's Amber Riley and the cast of The Maids - Laura Carmichael, Uzo Aduba and Zawe Ashton - signed up to present awards.
Leading the nominations is Gypsy with eight nods, with its stars Imelda Staunton and Lara Pulver both in the running.
In the best actor category are Benedict Cumberbatch for Hamlet, Mark Rylance for his role in Farinelli And The King, Sir Kenneth Branagh for The Winter's Tale, Adrian Lester for Red Velvet and Kenneth Cranham for The Father.
Photograph 51's Nicole Kidman leads the best actress competition against Gemma Arterton for Nell Gwynn, Denise Gough for People, Places And Things, Janet McTeer for Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and Lia Williams for Oresteia.
Winners will be announced at the ceremony on April 3.
