Emeli Sande and Professor Green on bill for Global Citizen Live London

They will be joined by Gabrielle Aplin and Naughty Boy.

Emeli Sande, Professor Green and Naughty Boy will all perform at the first Global Citizen event in the UK.

Gabrielle Aplin, Luisa Omielan and Hussain Manawer will also perform at Global Citizen Live London, which will be held on April 17 at the O2 Academy in Brixton.

The event will coincide with the 2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and will mark what would have been the year of Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday.

It will call on world leaders to honour Mr Mandela’s legacy and make major investments towards ending extreme poverty by 2030.

Sande said: “Music has given me a great platform to speak up for millions of people around the world who are living in extreme poverty.

“I can’t wait to take the stage with Global Citizen to honour Nelson Mandela and make a difference for the people we have a duty to uplift and empower.”

Amy Agnew, Europe director of Global Citizen, added: “We share Nelson Mandela’s belief that extreme poverty is a man-made condition and that we can be the generation to overcome it.

“We are thrilled to have this incredible line-up of artists – and their fans across the United Kingdom – join the Global Citizen movement and make their voices heard.

“Now more than ever, we need to work together and demand that our leaders take concrete action for the world’s poor.”

The first Global Citizen festival was held in New York in 2012 and it has since held events in Australia, Canada, India and Germany.

The event will be free and fans can get tickets by signing up at gclive.london and demanding world leaders make major investments to support women and girls, ensure legal gender equality, provide education for children in crises, and eradicate diseases including polio, malaria and neglected tropical diseases.
