Goulding Lights up the US charts
Ellie Goulding has become the latest UK act to make the charts in the United States - with a song she released almost a year ago.
Her single Lights is at number five six months after it re-entered the American chart.
The track, which features on her debut EP An Introduction To Ellie Goulding, has been downloaded more than 1.9 million times, despite only reaching number 49 in the UK charts.
Ellie first became popular after winning Critics Choice at the Brit awards in 2010 and topping a BBC search for new talent in the same year.
Her cover of Elton John's Your Song shot her to the top of the UK Official Download Chart last year after being featured in John Lewis's Christmas advert.
Her fame increased when it was revealed the Prince William and Kate Middleton were fans and she was invited to serenade the royal couple during the first dance at their wedding in April 2011.
Other UK acts to have enjoyed similar success in the United States recently include X-Factor runners-up One Direction whose debut album went straight to number one on the US album chart.
