Green Day musical coming to UK
Award-winning musical American Idiot, based on the music of punk-pop act Green Day, is to tour the UK.
The show, which has been a Tony Award-winning Broadway hit, will have a two-month theatre run next autumn.
The show - featuring a US cast - includes songs by the band such as Boulevard Of Broken Dreams and Holiday from their American Idiot album.
Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong took a stint in the New York run of the production during its year-long run.
He said: "We're excited to be bringing the US stage production of American Idiot to the UK and Ireland.
"We played to some of the most insane crowds when we toured the album there, and we can't wait for our friends across the pond to see the play."
Critics have raved about the show - about three friends trying to make sense of the world - with the New York Times calling it "the most adventurous musical to brave Broadway in the past decade".
The production opens in Southampton at the Mayflower Theatre on October 9 next year, winding up at London's HMV Hammersmith Apollo in December.
Tickets go on sale next Friday.
