Madonna's ex-husband, Guy Ritchie referred to her as "it" and made jibes while the couple were still married, it has been revealed.
Friends have said that the British director started making comments about his wife's behaviour before their divorce.
A source revealed that there was "absolutely no love lost between them".
"Guy will say, 'Oh, It's in a bad mood today'," the source said.
Madonna (50) divorced Ritchie last year but they are at present in a custody battle over sons Rocco (8) and David (3). The couple's six-year marriage ended in 2008 and until now it was said that they were maintaining an amicable relationship because of their children. But it is believed that Ritchie (40) revealed details of his marital difficulties to friends.
"Even towards the end of their marriage, he would call her It," the source said. "He told people, 'We can't make It angry'."
Ritchie is at present fighting to have the couple's sons raised in Britain. However, Madonna would like to have the two boys in New York. She has already enrolled the children in a New York school after winning temporary residency.
The couple filed papers at Manhattan Supreme Court, asking a US judge to approve the agreement, which will keep the two boys jetting between Ritchie in England and Madonna in the US.
A court hearing, open to the public, is scheduled next week. The stars had hoped to keep details of their arrangements under wraps. However, the case was moved to New York which means that future hearings regarding the children's care will be open to the public.
Meanwhile, the marriage of one of Madonna's reported love interests, baseball star Alex Rodriguez, has officially ended. Documents issued at a US county court stated his marriage to Cynthia was "irretrievably broken". Rodriguez -- known as A-Rod -- split from his wife of five years last summer, following reports of an involvement with Madge.
