Huey Morgan replaces Mark Lamarr
Huey Morgan, the Fun Lovin' Criminals frontman, is joining Radio 2.
The New York-born singer is replacing Mark Lamarr who quit the station, accusing it of becoming "much less interested in non-mainstream music".
Huey said it was a "huge honour to be given three hours a week to kick back and play some of the hottest tunes, both new and old, with a disregard of genre."
He added: "Growing up in NYC, I could never have imagined that the prestigious and world famous BBC would give me six hours of airtime a week to play my favourite records, and allow me chat to some of the people who have inspired me along the way."
Huey currently hosts a show on 6 Music and has also stood in for Lauren Laverne while she is on maternity leave.
Mark announced he was quitting the station earlier this month, saying: "It's become obvious over the last year the station has become much less interested in non-mainstream music, and my position there has been extremely uncomfortable."
Station controller Bob Shennan said Mark had asked for an earlier slot in the schedule and been refused.
Huey will present Mark's old show, which runs every Saturday from midnight to 3am, from next April.
Veteran broadcaster Bob Harris will host the show until Huey starts.
