Ireland's only Dolly Parton tribute act comes to Belfast's Europa Hotel
Northern Ireland Dolly Parton tribute act Donna Fleming has spent three years recreating the music and life of her idol.
Now Dona, from Belfast, is bringing a special Christmas show to the Europa Hotel in Belfast on Monday 22 December.
The Dolly Show, Christmas Extravaganza will take to the stage with a full live band, backing singers, 45-piece choir, dancers, support act and a number of guests.
Mum of two Donna, who is also a drama and vocal tutor, provides the complete Dolly package, with full Tennessee accent, costume changes, complete make-up, as well as Dolly’s life stories.
Donna said: “It’s no secret that Dolly loves Christmas and so do I. I have had an amazing three years on my journey as Dolly and that’s why we decided to put on this massive show.”
She added: “I will be covering all her big hits from the 80’s right up until today and I’ll have the costume changes to match.”
The show will include some of Dolly’s biggest hits such as ‘Coat Of Many Colours’, ‘I Will Always Love You’, ‘Jolene’ and ‘9 to 5’.
There will also be a selection of Christmas classics for the audience to sing-a-long to as well.
Donna said: “Having spent many years in musical theatre as a director, producer and a performer we make sure to include the pizazz and vibrancy of a West End show no matter how big or small the venue we play in.”
Donna has certainly proved to have done her Dolly research and can guarantee you a night of fully packed great entertainment.
Donna said: “In 1983 my bother-in-law at the time, sat me down and showed me a recording of Dolly’s show in The Royal Albert Hall, this was the beginning.”
She said: “Some of the lines and songs from Dolly’s 1983 concert are still in my show today, I’ve watched every Dolly VHS, DVD, and YouTube link, I have researched her thoroughly.”
It’s no surprise that Donna is a massive Dolly fan and feels that they are ‘kindred spirits’.
Donna has been to see Dolly live at least three times but has never got the chance to meet her, she said: ‘It would be my pleasure to meet Dolly.’
