Singer Peter Doherty has been forced to postpone his upcoming shows in Belfast and Londonderry next week after being jailed for six months by pleading guilty to the possession of cocaine.
It comes after an inquiry into the death of his friend, film-maker Robin Whitehead, from heroin poisoning in January 2010.
Judge David Radford said Doherty had given Whitehead cocaine but admitted it was not the cause of her death.
He claimed Doherty had an “appalling record'' after already having 13 court appearances.
Acknowledging that there was no doubt he was “a talented musician'', he remarked that he should receive the “appropriate penalty'' regardless of his career.
Doherty’s Northern Ireland shows will be rescheduled for later in the year.
