Justin Bieber takes Twitter title
Justin Bieber has become the most followed person on Twitter.
The Boyfriend singer has amassed a whopping 33,333,554 fans on the social networking site, meaning he has overtaken the previous title holder, Lady Gaga.
The Poker Face singer - who had reigned over the Twittersphere for more than two years after swiping the title from Britney Spears - is now in second place with 33,328,937 fans, who she refers to as her Little Monsters.
Gaga recently tweeted to congratulate Justin, 18, on gathering such a huge army of 'Beliebers'.
She wrote: "So proud of @justinbieber and all the Beliebers! I'm only happy to see your fans growing in size, you all deserve it! Monsters support you!"
Justin, who recently split from on-off girlfriend Selena Gomez, retweeted Gaga's message.
Twittercounter.com, which monitors the site, says that Katy Perry, Rihanna and Barack Obama are the pair's closest competition.
