Kanye West to perform at MTV VMAs
Kanye West will perform at MTV's Video Music Awards, equalling Madonna's record for the most appearances at the ceremony.
Rapper Kanye is set to perform his latest track BLKKK SKKKN HEAD at the event on August 25 at the Brooklyn Barclays Centre, which will mark his seventh appearance on stage there.
The single is taken from his recent album Yeezus which was released in June and debuted at number one on the Billboard chart, although sales dropped off afterwards.
Also taking the stage this year is Lady Gaga with her forthcoming single Applause, her first since taking time out to recover from a hip operation.
Kanye caused controversy at the VMAs in 2009 when he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for best female video by jumping on stage and saying: "Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you. Imma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time ... one of the best videos of all time."
He returned the following year to perform his track Runaway and also appeared with Chaka Khan in 2004, with Jamie Foxx in 2005, with T-Pain, on his own in 2008 and with Jay-Z in 2011.
Kanye is also a three-time VMA winner.
