Katy B avoids pre-Mercury jitters
Katy B has revealed she is trying not to think about her chances of winning the Mercury Prize this week - for fear of jinxing it.
The On A Mission singer, whose debut album is nominated for this year's award, faces stiff competition from other artists including Adele, Elbow and PJ Harvey.
She told the Daily Star: "I'm trying not to jinx the occasion by thinking about it too much. I know I'll slip up if I over-think things."
But Katy admitted she has been thinking about what she'd like to say if she did scoop the gong on Tuesday.
"I was out shopping with my mum on Friday and, while she was trying on a top, I tried to think about what I should say if I win," she said.
"Mum put £20 on me to win a few weeks ago when I was 14-1."
Other nominees include Tinie Tempah, Ghostpoet and electronic group Metronomy.
