Lana Del Rey has admitted she wishes she hadn't pouted so much in the video for her debut single Video Games.
The 25-year-old singer - real name Lizzie Grant - was the centre of controversy last year when the video became a YouTube sensation, only for pictures to emerge showing her with a very different image, including thinner lips, taken in 2010. Lana was accused by some of being a manufactured star and having cosmetic enhancement.
She said: "Had I been aware of what was ahead of me, I'd have tried not to pout so much in the Video Games video."
Lana added: "I mean, everyone just wants to talk about my face. And I get very personal messages coming to me, like hate mail, so there is a flipside to the attention my music has been getting."
Lana admits she has worked to perfect her deep, sultry crooning style, but insists she is not the product of manufactured pop.
She said: "I actually used to sing much higher, but I felt people weren't taking me very seriously.
"I think it would've been hard to take me seriously as a singer. Actually, I know that's the case. I sang one way, and now sing another and I see what people are drawn to. I see the difference.
"No one really cared before, I was on my own trying to make it. Now there are more people interested and each member of the team that's joined has come on board to add what I couldn't, so the idea is to leave me doing what I do, while taking care of the rest. There's been no pushing at all."
