McFly's Dougie 'resting in rehab'

McFly star Dougie Poynter is in rehab, his bandmate Tom Fletcher has revealed.

The bassist, who split with The Saturdays singer Frankie Sandford last year, has previously admitted he found the break-up hard.

Tom told fans on Twitter: "Obviously you're all reading rumours about Dougie. Please don't worry. We don't know what the tabloids will say tomorrow but he is in rehab."

He added: "He's just been having a tough time lately and needed a few weeks rest so he's fighting fit and ready to slap that bass for you on tour."

The first few dates of McFly's forthcoming tour - which was set to kick off in Nottingham on March 12 - have been postponed.

Dougie and Frankie originally split in February 2010 and reconciled in May, however, the pop pair parted ways once again around November of last year.

Frankie has since been pictured with a new beau, West Ham footballer Wayne Bridge. She recently told More! magazine: "I really like Wayne. It's going great with him, but we're just a normal couple really."
