Nicki Minaj is queen of hip-hop
Nicki Minaj has been named the highest earning woman in hip-hop.
The 28-year-old rapper was the only female to be named in Forbes magazine's top 20 highest earners in hip-hop.
Music mogul Jay-Z topped the list as the highest earning star in the industry, followed by P Diddy, who owns a range of brands on top of his best selling music, and Kanye West, who recently joined forces with top-earner Jay-Z to release album Watch The Throne, in third place.
Nicki was placed joint 15th on the list with rapper Swizz Beatz, who is four years older than her, with both estimated to have earned 6.5 million dollars in the last year.
Jay-Z's earnings for the last year were said to be 37 million dollars, thanks in part to a 10 year deal with Live Nation worth 150 million dollars, stakes in the New Jersey Nets basketball team and his 40/40 Club chain.
This year is the first time since 2008 that Jay-Z has earned more than his wife Beyonce.
P Diddy, real name Sean Combs, estimated earnings last year were 35 million dollars. His music is thought to only account for 20 per cent of his fortune, with the majority coming from his clothing lines and a deal with Ciroc vodka.
Kanye has had a controversial year, but is estimated to have raked in 16 million dollars, just ahead of Lil Wayne and Birdman in joint fourth place with 15 million dollars.
Rapper Eminem was joint sixth place with his friend and collaborator Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg, as all were thought to have earned 14 million in the last year.
Also in the top 20 were Akon, Ludacris, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland and 50 Cent, who has been focusing on his acting career down at joint 17th place with six million dollars.
