No music festival at Slane Castle gig this year

Irish festival goers have hit out at Slane Castle organisers for cancelling its 2012 gig.

The organisers broke the news to fans on Facebook yesterday.

“Good Morning guys, Lord Henry has announced this morning there will be no Slane this year, but 2013 will be busy,” said the post which was blasted by Irish music fans.

The venue in County Meath has been hosting the gig since 1981, when U2 performed at the inaugural event however the festival has never been a set annual affair.

In the millennium, no concerts took place at Slane Castle in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010.

“NOOOOOOOOO! I was really hoping thus would be a joke! No oxegen and now no slane?Seriously...” wrote one fan while another retorted: “Looks like 2012 is a dark year for the outdoor scene! Bloody terrible!”“What a shame, would have thought Ireland really need a pickup this year,” said another.
