By Joanne Flemming

Pop pin-ups One Direction have delighted their devoted fans in Northern Ireland after they announced two gigs in Belfast.

The famous five - Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan - have scheduled a double date at the Odyssey Arena on October 20 and 21.

News of the dates - part of their On The Road Again Tour 2015 - was relayed via a video message on Twitter on Saturday night, prompting a thrilled response from local fans.

"One Direction are coming to Belfast on my birthday next year! Not a chance am I going to miss this one," wrote Claire O'Boyle.

"Still not over the fact that one direction are coming back to Belfast," tweeted another.

Tickets for concerts at the Odyssey Arena go on sale on Saturday. Sales will be strictly limited to six per booking.

Prices have yet to be officially announced for Belfast, but they are £37.50 to £65 in Cardiff.

The group, currently at number three in the UK albums chart with Four and part of the Band Aid 30 hit charity song, are the biggest success story from X Factor - although they only came third in the ITV talent show in 2010.

Singles such as What Makes You Beautiful, Story of My Life and Little Things have been among their biggest successes.

With fans in almost every corner of the world, 1D's upcoming Belfast shows next October are part of the just-announced seventh and final leg of the huge world tour that kicks off in Australia in February.
