Pray for Cheryl Cole, urges Girls Aloud's Nadine Coyle

Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle has called on fans to pray for her band-mate Cheryl Cole, who is suffering from malaria.

Londonderry-born Nadine’s plea came after Cheryl was forced to pull out of judging X Factor auditions in Manchester when she collapsed at a photoshoot.

Initially she was suspected to be suffering from exhaustion, but tests confirmed she is battling malaria.

Nadine (pictured above, left, with Cheryl) has seen first-hand how serious the illness is, as her grandfather has suffered with the condition twice.

Los Angeles-based Nadine found out about Cheryl’s condition via Twitter. She tweeted: “Oh noo. You guys just told me about Cheryl I have been so paranoid about malaria my grandad had it. Let's say a wee prayer all is ok. Xx.”

Tweeting earlier in the week about her holiday in Costa Rica, Nadine said, rather ironically: “I wish someone had warned us about the Mosquitos out there. They are ruthless. 1st time to be bitten now I can sympathise.”

Cheryl (27) is being treated at the specialist tropical diseases ward of University College London hospital in central London. She is said to have contracted the illness following a trip to Tanzania with close friend Derek Hough.

Pop mogul Simon Cowell has urged Cheryl not to worry about her work commitments and concentrate on getting well.
