Pro Green: We won over indie boys

Professor Green has told how he had to work to win over the crowd when he supported the Stone Roses.

The London-born rapper, who is dating Made In Chelsea's Millie Mackintosh, played before the alternative rockers in Manchester last month.

"We won them over, all those indie boys," he said.

"But you know, it wasn't that they didn't like me, it was more a case of them wanting me to show them why I deserved to be there and what I do. That was more for me than any of the other support acts, too, I think. They wouldn't come to a gig of mine, so I guess they were wondering why they had to watch me when they'd gone to see the Stone Roses.

"But we did it. It took a while, it wasn't like walking out to one of my crowds, and it was a really large crowd. But we did it."

The Read All About It star said the experience made him want to perform a show of that size himself.

He continued: "If I didn't want that, I'd be in the wrong business. But it's nothing you can ever plan for, I don't know what the steps are to becoming as big as the Stone Roses, but you just try to build and build and grow the fans all the time, set yourself targets and look for new opportunities."
