Publishers Simon and Schuster have signed up a series of novels based on "sexual" stories written online by a One Direction fan about her fantasy romance with singer Harry Styles.
Anna Todd, who lists racy best-seller Fifty Shades Of Grey among her favourite books, published the stories, called After, on an online sharing site for writers where they have been read millions of times.
She said t he books, which she warns contain "detailed sexual scenes" and "explicit language ", are a trilogy that " tells the story of Tessa Young, an optimistic freshman at Washington State University, and the dark, troubled guy who has stolen her heart".
The books, which will also feature appearances by bandmates including Niall Horan and Zayn Malik, started life online at Wattpad, which allows writers to publish work and contact their fans.
It was reported in the United States that Anna, who lives in Texas, had signed a six-figure deal with Simon and Schuster and a spokeswoman for its UK arm said it would release the first book in this series at the end of this year.
EL James' Fifty Shades Of Grey, currently being made into a Hollywood film, started life as fan-fiction inspired by the Twilight stories.
