Sonique has revealed she has been given the all clear following her battle with breast cancer.

The 41-year-old singer and DJ was diagnosed less than a year ago in May 2009 and has undergone three operations, intensive chemotherapy and a recent batch of preventative radiotherapy.

Sonique - real name Sonia Clarke - revealed: "It's all good and they've given me the thumbs and all of that, so I'm just trying not to hang on to that whole thing now. I'm trying to just distance myself away from the whole experience as much as possible."

But the singer admitted that when she first discovered a lump, she put off seeking doctors' advice, and urged other women not to do the same.

She said: "I thought it was a cyst so I'd dismissed it for about four months which is really bad of me. But I suppose no-one wants to even admit, or even have that be a problem. You don't want to know the truth.

"But the sooner you do, even if you have just a little suspicion, you should check it."

Sonique has joined 20 other celebrities, including Kym Marsh, Caroline Quentin and Danielle Lloyd in re-recording Cyndi Lauper's 80s classic Girls Just Want To Have Fun for Cancer Research UK.

She recalled: "I'd just come from radiotherapy that day so I was still going through my hot flush, moody moments - but other than that it was a really good day."
