The Libertines sign new Virgin record deal with Pete Doherty
Troubled singer Pete Doherty popped out of his rehab clinic in Thailand to join the rest of rock act The Libertines as they signed a new record deal, a decade after their last studio album.
His fellow bandmates Carl Barat, John Hassall and Gary Powell - who have reformed for shows sporadically after the group split in 2004 - flew out to join him in the Far East to seal the contract.
The Libertines released just two hit albums during their career before disintegrating as a result of Doherty's drug use. He is currently undergoing another stint of rehab to deal with his problems at the Hope Rehabilitation Centre, and he is starting a trust to fund treatment for other addicts.
Doherty was allowed out of the centre to sign the deal with Virgin.
