Travel advice for Guns N' Roses fans ahead of Slane gig

With over 80,000 Guns N' Roses fans travelling to Slane Castle this weekend, organisers are once again urging people to plan their journeys in advance.

The US rockers will be taking to the iconic site in Co Meath from 7.30pm on Saturday, May 27, with support from Royal Blood, Mark Lanegan and Dublin band Otherkin.

Ahead of the massive concert, organisers are asking people to travel early to Slane Castle in order to minimise distruption.

They said:

  • When it comes to the traffic management in place for the venue, patrons are being urged to use public transport and arrive at the venue by 5pm.
  • Fans are warned of significant traffic delays and to add on two additional hours to your expected travel time.
  • The extended weather forecast is sunny with possible showers to attendees are urged to dress appropriately, with comfortable footwear being of utmost importance.
  • They should expect to walk at least 2km from the drop-off points with three public car-parks in operation.

No alcohol is permitted onto the event site and searches will be in place at the entrances.

Prohibited items include: Aerosols, food, glass, or cans, fireworks or flares, large umbrellas or flag poles, megaphones, selfie sticks or spray cans.
