U2 are top earners for tour of year
Irish rock superstars U2 had the highest-earning tour of the year, according to new figures.
The band's 360° shows saw them play 44 dates to almost three million people, taking more than £180m at the box office.
Second in the list — from figures compiled by music magazine Billboard — was US rock act Bon Jovi.
The band generated a little over £120m from 68 shows, but dropped from their number one spot of the previous year.
Take That came third for the summer tour which saw them reunited with Robbie Williams. The group's Progress tour took £117m.
Another Brit was at number four in the list with ex-Pink Floyd star Roger Waters’ The Wall tour generating nearly £96m.
A surprise entry was 80s soul star Sade who grossed £34m for her shows during the year.
