Van Morrison Cyprus Avenue birthday gig: second date announced

Van Morrison has agreed to a second Cyprus Avenue gig in Belfast following overwhelming demand for tickets.

The Belfast Telegraph revealed in February the legendary singer songwriter would take to a stage on the tree lined east Belfast street made famous in his groundbreaking 1968 album Astral Weeks.

Tickets for the East Side Arts Festival event sold out in minutes, with interest from music fans across the globe.

The 69-year-old has now signed up for a second performance on August 31, which marks his 70th birthday.

A statement from organisers said: “A further show has been announced as part of the Live on Cyprus Avenue performance taking place on the August 31.

"Van will perform another show at 6pm with tickets on sale Wednesday, April 22 at 9am.”

Tickets are available online from and in-store from the Visit Belfast Welcome Centre.
