Van Morrison's first recordings remastered to be released in The Complete Them (1964-1967)

By Claire Williamson

The most thorough collection of Sir Van Morrison's early studio and live performances ever assembled have been newly remastered for a new collection - many of them long unavailable or previously unreleased.

The Complete Them 1964-1967 includes all material recorded for the first two Them albums - The Angry Young Them (1965) and Them Again (1966) in addition to singles demos, live sessions, alternate takes and rarities from 1964-1967.

It is being released as part of an exclusive licensing agreement between SME/Legacy and Morrison's own Exile Productions earlier this year.

The package includes a new commentary provided by Van Morrison himself.

Them's original five man line up consisted of Van Morrison on lead vocals, saxophone, harmonica, Alan Henderson on bass guitar, Ronnie Millings on drums, Billy Harrison on guitar and vocals and Eric Wrixon on keyboards.

This was a monumental year for Belfast-born Sir Van as he celebrated his 70th birthday on August 31 with two concert performances on the iconic Cyprus Avenue in east Belfast.

The 3 CD anthology will be released on December 4.
