Irish rockers U2 have released a performance video for their song The Blackout ahead of their upcoming album Songs of Experience.

The Dublin band posted the video on to its Facebook page on Wednesday, however the first single from the new album is set to be 'You’re the Best Thing About Me'.

The track will be unveiled on September 6.

The performance video for The Blackout was filmed live in Amsterdam last month and was directed by Richie Smyth.

Songs of Experience will be the band's follow up album to 2014's 'Songs of Innocence'.

 

The record caused controversy after it was downloaded to Apple's iPhone users without their permisssion.

U2 are currently finishing up their Joshua Tree 30th anniversary tour.

The four-piece performed a huge home-coming gig at Dublin's Croke Park in July.

Hits from the 1987 album were included in the set list, including Where The Streets Have No Name, I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, and With Or Without You.
