Northern Ireland School Choir of the Year to join Katherine Jenkins on Belfast Waterfront stage
Katherine Jenkins has said she is "thrilled" the winning junior choir of BBC Northern Ireland School Choir of the Year will join her on stage at her Belfast concert later this month.
Ebrington Primary School, from Londonderry, will join the mezzo-soprano star on stage when she performs at the Waterfront Hall on Monday, May 27.
“Having been a school teacher myself, it always brings such joy to my heart to see young children enthusiastic about singing," said Jenkins.
"I have been aware of Ebrington Primary School’s talented choir since they won the BBC NI School Choir of the Year and I’m thrilled that they have agreed to share their voices with my audience in my Belfast concert,” she added.
Derry's Thornhill College and Ebrington Primary School were named as Northern Ireland’s top senior and junior school choirs in the live final of BBC Northern Ireland School Choir Of The Year.
Sixty-two choirs battled it out over the course of eight weeks and six schools from across Northern Ireland took part in the live final, with three competing respectively in the junior and senior categories.
The Ulster Orchestra will also be accompanying Katherine at the Waterfront Hall. Based in Belfast, The Ulster Orchestra is Northern Ireland’s flagship arts organisation and its players comprise the only professional symphony orchestra in the region.
Tickets for Katherine Jenkins' concert are available now from the Ulster Hall box office, all usual Ticketmaster outlets and online at ticketmaster.ie
