Q&A: Derry band TOUTS on their Belfast gig and getting barred from the Crown Bar

TOUTS, a three piece punk band from Londonderry, describe themselves as a singer that can't sing, a mod that can't play bass and a drummer that can't see.

The trio are set to take to the stage at McHughs Basement Bar on Thursday, August 16.

1. What's the best/worst thing that's ever happened to you on stage?

The best thing ever happened to us was probably Matthew getting a black eye after being struck by a rubber sex apparatus at a gig in the nerve centre in Derry. We never really have much bad craic, the crowd is always up for a laugh, which makes our job class to do.

2. Who is your music idol and have you ever met them?

My idol is definitely our bass player Luke Mac, and it's true what they say about not meeting your heroes.

3. Can your music be described in one word?

4. Can your music be described in five words?

We can do six; We're barred from the Crown Bar.

5. What can the Belfast audience expect from your upcoming show?

A few ejits causing a handling on the 212 bus before, a pile of young ones jumping about a wee sweaty basement and a surplus of new tunes and haircuts.

6. What song is your biggest guilty pleasure?

Anything by Calenso Parade.

7. Do you know what an Ulster Fry is?

Poor man's Irish breakfast.

8. Who would you love to perform a duet with?

Ian Paisley Jnr, but he's never in the country.

9. If you had to listen to one song on repeat for 24 hours, what would it be:

Anything by Calenso Parade.
