BBC Invitation Concert, Ulster Hall, Belfast, Sunday, 9.30pm

BBC Radio Three is currently celebrating live orchestral music-making and as part of the series this Sunday will see the world premiere of a new guitar concerto, ‘Roots’, commissioned by BBC Radio Three from the Irish composer/guitarist, Ciaràn Farrell.

Farrell lives in Dublin and is establishing a name for himself in a variety of compositional roles.

It will be performed by the famous Australian-born guitarist Craig Ogden (right), whose performances have taken him throughout the UK, Europe, the USA, South East Asia, South Africa and Australia.

The Ulster Orchestra will accompany Ogden in this new work and the concert also includes Bernstein’s suite from his music for the ballet Fancy Free.
