Singers in Downpatrick,The Great Hall,,Downshire Estate, Downpatrick,Tonight until Sunday

The BBC is certainly proving its relevance to classical music audiences this June with a significant series of concerts which will be recorded live in Downpatrick.

The recitals, which will take place in the beautiful surroundings of The Great Hall, Downshire Estate, will be recorded and broadcast as part of the BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert series from July 27–30, at 1pm.

In tonight’s recital at 8pm, the Irish tenor Robin Tritschler (right) will be accompanied by pianist Simon Lepper in Schumann’s Dichterliebe and Britten’s Winter Words. Tomorrow’s performer will be Czech singer Jan Martinik and on Sunday Croatian mezzo-soprano Renata Pokupic will take to the stage.
