The Script to headline Belsonic 2018 gig at Belfast's Ormeau Park

The Script are the latest act to be announced as headliners for Belsonic 2018.

The Irish trio will perform at the Ormeau Park in Belfast on Sunday, June 24.

Tickets go on sale from Friday, December 15 at 9am from Ticketmaster outlets.

The band will be supported by Irish singer Gavin James, with further acts to be announced.

The gig announcement follows The Script's sold out arena tour in 2017 and the release of their latest album Freedom Child.

The record reached number one in the UK charts - marking their fourth album to reach the top spot.

The group said of the achievement: “You guys may never understand how happy we are to have achieved our fourth number one album.

"You see, we've worked so hard on it and ultimately the fans decided whether it's a strong album or not. We're so so lucky and are humbled by it.”

The Script are the fifth act to be confirmed for Belsonic 2018.

Liam Gallagher will headline a show on Saturday, June 16, while Irish duo Picture This will take to the stage on Sunday, June 17 2018.

Meanwhile, Australian DJ Timmy Trumpet is set to appear at the venue on Thursday, June 21, with fellow DJ Carl Cox headlining on Saturday, June 23 2018.
