Westlife announce third tour date for Belfast due to fan demand

A reformed Westlife have announced they will be playing an additional date in Belfast next summer due to fan demand.

The group were back on their stools and greeted by the familiar sounds of screaming fans as they discussed their forthcoming comeback with the assembled media at the SSE Arena on Tuesday.

The group will kick off their tour with two dates in Belfast next May, with an additional date being announced for May 27.

Complimenting the crowds in Belfast, the group said it was in the Northern Ireland capital where they got the biggest reaction.

"The memories that we have here. I can remember my dad driving me up in the very early days when we started coming to Belfast. Even before we got to play in this arena. Those memories go right back to the very early days of Westlife," said Shane Filan.

"We’ve plays a lot of places and this always has a very strong image in our heads of one of our biggest supporters."

The group's tour next year will also take in dates in Dublin, with the group set to play Croke Park on July 5 next year.

The band notched up 14 number one singles in the UK before announcing they were splitting up in 2012.

Tickets for the Belfast dates, from May 25 to May 27, 2019 go on sale on Thursday at 9am via Ticketmaster.
