9.7 million tune in to Strictly
Strictly Come Dancing continued to thrash its rival The X Factor on Saturday night after pulling in two million more viewers for a second week.
The BBC1 celebrity dance show had an average audience of 9.7 million last night, while the ITV programme commanded just 7.4 million, even including viewers of its catch-up +1 channel.
The X Factor was also down around 400,000 on the equivalent show in 2013, despite the return of Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini to the judging panel which was expected to provide a further boost this year.
Even X Factor's Halloween twist of an instant elimination - with Jack Walton sent packing - failed to produce a boost.
Strictly has been consistently ahead so far this series.
