Anderson 'had fling with girl'

Gillian Anderson has admitted having a fling with another female in the past.

The Great Expectations and former X Files star told Out magazine that she'd experimented.

She said that she was "in a relationship with a girl for a long time" when she was in high school in the US.

"You know, I'm old enough that I can talk about that," she said.

The magazine said that Gillian, 43, - who played Miss Havisham in the BBC One Dickens adaptation - said that she'd also had relationships with other woman.

"If I had thought I was 100% gay, would it have been a different experience for me?" she said of her high school relationship.

"Would it have been a bigger deal if shame had been attached to it and all those things that become huge life-altering issues for youngsters in that situation?"

The actress, who has a 17-year-old daughter from her first marriage and two young sons with her current partner, said: "It's possible that my attitude around it came, on some level, from knowing that I still liked boys."
